STRATEGIES

In order to carry this out, I will need to move closer to people. This will allow me to know their problems.

Listen attentively to my patients, colleagues and people in general to identify their needs.

Show good respect and empathy towards patients. This will facilitate clear communication, understanding and a healthy therapeutic relationship with my clients.

Always be available for my family and do my best possible to attend to their needs.

GOAL 2

I have a personal goal of creating a life within which I can apply my education and my passion for nursing.

STRATEGY

To achieve this goal, I will seek to maintain and apply my professional development, always diligently completing all my work in the work place and striving to improve methods for separating home and work responsibilities.

Career Goals

GOAL 1

I want to succesfully pass my Bachelor of Nursing degree course and become registered by AHPRA and start working as a Division 1 nurse. I hope to work in an Aged care facility and later on in an ophthalmic department. I have chosen Aged care nursing as a starting point because this particular field will help to develop my clinical skills which I will use to advantage in my country in the near future.

STRATEGY: 1

I have successfully gained admission into the University of Ballarat, and am presently studying nursing at post-registration level for a degree certificate.

My endeavours are to attend fixed lectures and finish my assignments on time.

??Upon completion of the degree course I will attend 11 weeks placement for practical application in an Australian setting of the things that I have learned.

I will need to pass my IELTS test and then become registered by AHPRA.

GOAL 2

Hopefully within the next five years I will have a degree in Ophthalmic Nursing and become Registered as an Ophthalmic nurse and be working in an eye clinic. I hope to be an active member in the profession of nursing, joining the Australian Ophthalmic Nursing Association.

STRATEGY

I will seek for admission into an Australian University to study Ophthalmic Nursing at masters level and hope to get employment in an Ophthalmic department under a reputable Hospital (Government Hospital) so as to gain  exemplary skills in that field.

Academic Skills

I possess writing and reading skills which enable me to accurately document the primary care rendered to my patients. I have a disciplined plan to enhance further these English language skills. In addition, I have sound knowledge in research based on evidence observed on my patients and literature review analysis serving as a guide in rendering optimal and standard care of my patients. Similarly, my knowledge in mathematical skills is valuable for my nursing practice in drug calculation and administration. Coupled with my academic skills of literacy and numeracy and nursing knowledge and experienced application are the practical demonstrations of punctuality and diligence in class, and stress and time management in daily living.

Academic Goals

GOAL 1

Based on my previous years of experience and interest in ophthalmic nursing.I would like to to be recognized as an Australian specialist in Ophthalmic Nursing.

STRATEGY

In order for me to achieve my goal, I will undertake further training in Ophthalmic nursing leading to recognition of my specialty.

I must always attend the class and finish my assignments within the time frame and with high grades.

GOAL 2

Writing is my best skill but to my surprise, I found out that my level of writing in the University of Ballarat is of a low standard comparatively. I will seek to improve my English written skills to the academic standard level.

STRATEGIES

My plan of action includes developing my writing skills by writing essays on different topics thrice in a week which I intend to continue even after finishing the course.

I will be attending workshops and seeking help from the University support team for correction and guidance.

Working As a Registered Ophthalmic Nurse Nurse

My greatest interest in nursing profession is to render care to those who have eye problem. The interest developed right from my student days during my placement. Similarly, I have worked and gained valuable experience in eye clinic for five years with a related one year post-basic training course in Ophthalmic. Relating to this, I will like further my academic and seek for an admission into the University offering training in Ophthalmic. At the successful completion, I will like to work as a Registered Ophthalmic Nurse in Government Hospital and gain necessary Western practical skills which I can utilise in my Country in the nearest future

No tasks to display.

MY NURSING PHYLOSOPHY RSS

My understanding of a philosophy is a system of values that guide one in work as well in life. In relation to this, my nursing philosophy is an accumulation of my experience, education and passion. Similarly, I identified health, nursing, environment and patients as additional components that shape my nursing philosophy. Nursing to me is not merely a career or profession, but rather a passion that feeds my soul. Thus, it is my passion that enables me the ability to supersede the constraints and pressures that accompany my profession. I believe health is a temporary state of being which is subjected to change as it can be compromise; hence, I always render holistic care in order to ensure proper maintenance of my patients at their optimum health level. I am always compassionate and showing care towards my patients and people in general. This I could say was instilled into me by mother who is a caring qualified practicing nurse and my father a congregational Pastor.

In addition, I had so much passion for knowledge based on evidence and its application in real practice which I believed is the core success in this career. I believed in taken initiatives rather than following routine and administrative procedures in caring for my patients. This most times saves lives, time, as well as   effective in intervening with patients. Furthermore, following ethics, showing respect to my patients and advocate when necessary in their health promotion is my personal attributes which I hold in high esteem for my nursing practice.
