Jismi Mathew
About me..
I am Jismi Mathew, an international student from the India ,who is currently pursuing Bachelor of Nursing Course (Post Registration) at William Light Institute (a partner provider of University of Ballarat). Prior to joining the above course, I had obtained Diploma in eneral Nursing & Midwifery (3 years full time course) from M.A.G. J hospital, Mookkannoor, Kerala, India. I am looking forward to finish my degree, be a Registered Nurse here in Australia and practice my profession in a hospital preferably in a medical & surgical ward .
The purpose of my joining the course in Australia is to further enhance my nursing knowledge and skills, which will be eventually utilized for my Nursing career for the betterment of the patients under my care. With this motive, my priority now is to complete the course satisfactorily and get registered with AHPRA, and consequently practice my profession at any hospital of repute in Australia.
Reflection and Self- assessment
Nursing for me is a well respected, rewarding and self-fulfilling career. I am proud to be a part of it and love the experiences i get when I handle patients. I have challenged myself by getting into different specialty areas in nursing and through my exposure, I was able to prove and hone my nursing skills.I can say that I got a long way in nursing and it keeps me on the right track. Honestly, I never imagine myself being a nurse which is taking good care of patients. From what I know, females are good at it. Well, that is just my presumptions and will remain as it is. Being in the nursing profession, I never thought that this is just so fulfilling. As I go through my career path, I got to know that nursing is not easy. It is actually complicated but understanding it deeply and putting yourself into it is something that keeps me moving on to improve my professional and personal development as a nurse.

Sub: Application for a position of Registered Nurse
Dear Sir/Madam
Please accept my application for the position of a Registered Nurse. I am a Registered nurse from India. Following my diploma in nursing in 2006 I have been employed by M.A.G.J Hospital, Mookannoor in medical & surgical department. It has been a privilege to work with exceptionally talented and professional medical practitioners and nursing staff for the past 5 years.
During my final year nursing rounds, I gained experience in paediatric and orthopaedic units. Nurses Prayer
Being a Nurse
Being a nurse means. . .You will never be bored. You will always be frustrated. You will be surrounded by challenges. So much to do and so little time. You will carry immense responsibilityand very little authority. You will step into people's livesand you will make a difference. Some will bless you. Some will curse you.You will see people at their worst--and at their best. You will never cease to be amazed at people's capacityfor love, courage, and endurance. You will experience resounding triumphsand devastating failures. You will cry a lot.You will laugh a lot.You will know what it is to be humanand to be humane.
My Philosophy in Nursing
My nursing philosophy is one of holistic care, delivering compassionate and culturally sensitive care to patients, families, and or significant others. I believe that nursing is an occupation consisting of professional individuals that exhibit and express compassion, respect, dignity, and integrity to their patients and fellow coworkers. My personal philosophy is to first and foremost be a patient advocate, through clear communication, education, and applying critical thinking, and decision making skills to help better the patients' outcome. As a nurse, it is important to me to provide the highest quality nursing care possible to achieve excellence in patient results, while simultaneously, providing a respectful healing environment. To me nursing is about compassion and trying to understand human beings on all emotional, physical, and scientific levels. It is a profession which uses evidence based practices yet displays a comprehensive understanding of human beings. As a professional nurse (RN) I feel a personal commitment toward life-long learning, through formal education and hands-on experience to better myself and my nursing knowledge.
