About me
Hi, my name is Georgina Stephenson and I am currently completing my third year of nursing at the University of Ballarat. During the last 3 years I have learnt nescessary skills needed to become a successful nurse, ranging from clinical skills to nursing theories.
I have also completed a range of clinical placements which include, aged care, mental health, medical/surgical as well as medical/oncology. I feel as though my experiences in these different areas have helped prepare me for my graduation year in 2013, after each placement I always feel much more confident with the skills i posess.
This is why I am so excited to undertake my graduation year, it will give me the opportunity to experience even more areas of nursing that I am interested in such as emergency nursing and paediatric nursing.
In the years following my year as a grad nurse I hope to return to study to do a post-graduate degree in the area i find myself most interested in, which at the moment is emergency and paediatrics which have both always interested me the most.
Thank-you for taking the time to look at my online portfolio

Re: Graduate Nursing Program
My name is Georgina Stephenson and I am writing to apply for the 2013 Graduate Nurse Program. I am currently a student at the University of Ballarat completing my third year in the Bachelor of Nursing. After attending your information session, I was very impressed with the program and the standards held by your welcoming staff and facility.
Your information session clearly outlined important aspects of program which helped me decide your facility would be highly beneficial for the beginning of my nursing career. The values held by your facility are ones I also hold myself. Believing that everyone should be treated with respect and integrity and that communication is vital when it comes to building effective relationships with patients and staff. I feel as though my three years studying at the University of Ballarat has equipped me with the skills required to be a successful nurse. From my successful clinical placements in a variety of nursing areas I have been able to put my skills in to practice which has helped prove that I am capable of providing safe nursing care within legal and ethical boundaries of nursing.
I am a naturally caring, compassionate and enthusiastic person and pride myself in this, as well as my strong communication skills. I am always interested in learning more and gaining further knowledge not just in the areas I am particularly interested in, but all areas of nursing. This is what makes your graduate program stand out to me, as I will have the opportunity to experience multiple clinical areas throughout the year. Feedback from my latest placement addresses my ongoing enthusiasm and willingness to learn and communicate with allied health professionals. This shows that I am passionate about nursing and will always endeavor to be the best I can.
Nursing is something I have always had an interest in. Although it wasn’t until my older brother had serious spinal surgery and I found myself caring for him when I truly realised that nursing was what I wanted to do. Through the care given to him in hospital I saw what it took to be a nurse, the care and support given by the nurses to not just my brother, but to my family was incredible and those nurses are who I strive to be like. Thanks to those nurses I believe I am now able to empathise with patients and their families, they same way they did for my family.
I have enclosed all of the information required for my application. Thank you for taking the time to review my application. Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss this further. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely,
Georgina Stephenson
